Summer is one of the busiest times of year for clinic enquiries. People have events coming up, holidays booked, or simply a bit more time to think about something they have been putting off. And with so many clinics, offers, and before-and-after photos competing for attention online, knowing who to trust can feel genuinely overwhelming.
This post is for anyone who has found Harley Court and wants to know a little more about what we stand for, how we work, and what to expect if you decide to get in touch. Karen answers some of the questions that come up most often.
What sets Harley Court apart from other clinics?
The short answer is that Harley Court takes a medical, patient-first approach to everything. Treatment is never about following trends or making a sale. It is about understanding each person as an individual and working out what will genuinely suit them.
“Sometimes the best advice is to do less, or even not to treat at all. Our patients know that their wellbeing always comes before a procedure.”
Karen has been working in aesthetics since 2001 as a Nurse Prescriber, and many of her clients have been with her for years. That kind of long-term relationship is not something that happens by accident. It comes from honest communication, consistent results, and treating people with real care rather than as a transaction.
Having our aesthetic clinics across Dorset and Hampshire gives our clients a variety of location options.
What happens at a consultation?
A consultation at Harley Court is never just about deciding what treatment to book. It is about understanding you properly before anything else is discussed.
Karen will talk through your concerns, your goals, and what has brought you in. She will review your medical history, any medications you take, and any previous treatments you have had. From there, she carries out a full facial assessment, looking at proportions, movement, skin quality, and symmetry, before making any recommendations at all.
“A consultation is never just about deciding what treatment to have. It is about understanding you as a whole.”
You will receive an honest explanation of what is realistic, how long results may take to develop, and what the limitations might be. Sometimes treatment can significantly improve a concern without completely resolving it, and Karen believes it is important people understand that from the start. Under-promising and over-delivering is always the aim.
There is never any pressure to go ahead. Sometimes the most valuable thing to come out of a first appointment is simply feeling better informed.
How does Karen approach creating a natural result?
Every face is different, and every treatment plan at Harley Court reflects that. Rather than focusing on a single line or feature in isolation, Karen looks at the face as a whole and works out what subtle, strategic changes will make the most difference.
“The goal is never to make you look like someone else. It is to help you look like the best version of yourself.”
That means starting conservatively, building gradually if needed, and always prioritising natural movement and expression over a result that looks obviously treated. The patients who leave feeling happiest are usually those where other people notice something positive but cannot quite identify what has changed.
What is one thing Karen wishes more people knew before booking?
Who performs your treatment matters just as much as what treatment you have. One of the most common mistakes Karen sees is people choosing a practitioner based on price, a trending social media post, or heavily edited before-and-after photos, rather than looking carefully at qualifications, experience, and safety standards.
Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures. Before booking anywhere, it is worth asking:
- What medical training and qualifications does the practitioner hold?
- What products are being used and where are they sourced from?
- What happens if there is a complication?
- Is there a proper consultation before any treatment goes ahead?
A good clinic should never feel rushed or sales-driven, and you should always feel comfortable asking questions.
What about clients who are nervous?
Feeling anxious before a first appointment is completely normal, and Karen never assumes people should already know what to expect. The approach at Harley Court is to create a calm, unhurried environment where questions are welcomed and nothing is glossed over.
Everything is explained clearly, from how a treatment works to what you might feel during it and what to expect in the days that follow. If at any point something does not feel right, there is no obligation to continue.
