WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Dermal filler treatments are prescribed individually for you following a thorough consultation and discussion regarding your concerns. They are designed to hydrate and restore lost volume to the skin. They contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body.

The results are immediate and long lasting.

Generally the effects last 6-9 months but this is dependent on the individual and area being treated. Typically you may find that initially more product is needed and as time passes treatments become less frequent.

FAQ's

Natural Results Philosophy: The key to natural-looking results lies in conservative treatment and working with your natural facial structure. At Harley Court Basingstoke, Newbury and Dorset, we believe in subtle enhancement rather than dramatic transformation. Most clients receive compliments on looking “well-rested” or “refreshed” rather than obviously treated.

Factors for Natural Results: Achieving natural results depends on choosing the right filler type for each area, using conservative volumes as you can always add more at follow-up, respecting your natural facial proportions, allowing time between sessions to assess results, and working with experienced practitioners who understand facial anatomy.

Timeline for Natural Appearance: Results may appear slightly over-enhanced immediately due to swelling, but swelling subsides within the first week allowing a more natural appearance to emerge. By week two, final natural-looking results are achieved, and ongoing results integrate naturally with your facial expressions.

Fundamental Differences: Botox is derived from botulinum toxin and temporarily paralyzes muscles, effectively reducing wrinkles, while dermal fillers add volume and structure to areas that have lost fullness.

When to Choose Botox: Botox is ideal for dynamic wrinkles that appear with facial expressions, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. It’s also excellent for preventative treatment in younger clients and muscle-related concerns such as jaw clenching or excessive sweating.

When to Choose Dermal Fillers: Dermal fillers are better suited for static wrinkles visible at rest, volume loss in cheeks, lips, or temples, facial contouring and definition, and tear trough correction.

Combination Approach: Botox and dermal fillers can work together to rejuvenate the face, as many clients benefit from both treatments addressing different concerns.

Hyaluronic Acid Advantage: All our dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid-based, which means they can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed.

Dissolution Process: Hyaluronidase can be injected within minutes if serious complications occur, and routine adjustments are usually performed 2-4 weeks after initial treatment. Complete reversal typically requires 24-48 hours for full dissolution, and selective correction can target specific areas without affecting the entire treatment.

When Dissolution Might Be Needed: This may be necessary for asymmetry or unevenness, over-treatment or excessive volume, lumps or irregularities, client dissatisfaction with results, or rare complications like vascular compromise.

Cost Considerations: Dissolution treatments typically cost £150-£300 and may not be covered under initial treatment guarantees.

Pricing Structure: Our dermal fillers cost £300-£400 per ml depending on filler brand and area. Consultations are £50 but redeemable against treatment, and top-ups are offered at 50% discount if needed within 4 weeks.

Treatment Area Costs: Lip treatments typically cost £350-£500 using 0.5-1ml, cheek enhancement ranges from £400-£800 using 1-2ml per side, nasolabial folds cost £350-£600 using 1-1.5ml, tear troughs are £400-£600 using 0.5-1ml, and jawline contouring ranges from £600-£1200 using 2-3ml.

Legal Requirements: The minimum age is 18 years as required by UK law. Clients under 21 require a cooling-off period and parental involvement discussion, with comprehensive consultation required regardless of age.

Age-Related Considerations: Clients in their 20s-30s often benefit from preventative treatments and subtle enhancement, while those in their 30s-40s typically address early volume loss and static lines. Clients in their 40s-50s often seek restoration of lost volume and structure, while those 50+ may need comprehensive rejuvenation and lifting effects.

Best Time to Start: Prevention treatments are ideal in early 30s for clients with strong facial expressions. Correction treatments are best when static lines or volume loss become noticeable. Individual assessment is based on genetics, lifestyle, and personal goals, with a gradual approach being better than starting dramatically.

Safety Profile: Dermal fillers, primarily composed of hyaluronic acid, are CE-marked medical devices that have undergone rigorous testing for safety and efficacy. At Harley Court in  Basingstoke, Newbury & Dorset, we exclusively use premium brands such as Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero, administered by our qualified medical practitioners who hold appropriate insurance and training certifications.

Pain Management: Most clients experience only mild discomfort during treatment. We apply a topical anaesthetic cream 20-30 minutes before your procedure, and our ultra-fine gauge needles (typically 27-30G) minimise tissue trauma. Many of our premium fillers also contain lidocaine for additional comfort during injection.

Immediate Aftercare: You may notice mild bruising, swelling, or redness at injection sites, which typically resolves within 2-5 days. We provide comprehensive aftercare instructions and a 24-hour helpline for any concerns.

Immediate Results: You’ll see instant improvement in volume, smoothing, and definition. The full effect becomes apparent once any initial swelling subsides, usually within 2-3 days.

Duration by Treatment Area: Lip fillers typically last 6-9 months, nasolabial folds last 9-12 months, cheek enhancement lasts 12-18 months, tear troughs last 12-15 months, and jawline contouring lasts 15-18 months.

Factors Affecting Longevity: Individual metabolism, lifestyle factors such as smoking and sun exposure, and the depth of injection all influence how long results last. Our practitioners will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.

Essential Aftercare (First 24-48 hours): You should avoid strenuous exercise and activities that increase blood flow, no sunbeds, saunas, or steam rooms, limit alcohol consumption, sleep with your head elevated, and apply cold compresses for 10-15 minutes if swelling occurs.

Ongoing Care: Use gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser, apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, avoid facial massage for 2 weeks, and stay hydrated to support hyaluronic acid retention.

Expected Side Effects: Mild swelling and bruising are normal for 3-7 days, along with temporary tenderness at injection sites and slight asymmetry immediately post-treatment that usually resolves within 2 weeks.

Cost Estimate: £300-£600 per treatment area, depending on the amount of product required.
